Very rare original carte de visite showing a photo of the American journalist, explorer and airman Walter Wellman, pictured with the Norwegian ice-steamer Ragnvald Jarl. Which was used in the first leg of his Spring, 1894 attempt at the North Pole. Wellman later made polar attempts using airships.
