WW2 German Kriegsmarine 8x60 Zeiss blc U Boat Commander Binoculars VERY RARE
Used on U-boats and other surface vessels. Hese were captured at the end of the war. The German Army and Navy used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6×30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens), 7×50, 8×30, 8×60 10×50 and others, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service. This specific binocular was used by the U-Boat commander. Made of solid brass and steel, by “blc” (Carl Zeiss Militarabteilung, Jena), these 8 x 60 power binoculars are in EXCELLENT used condition! The lens bodies retain about 98% of their original, rough textured, tan/grey finish, and end piece fittings are 100% intact! The optics are still VERY CLEAR and SHARP with no spotting! The view is a bit hazy, but it does not detract, and one could clean them, if they wished. The right side is body marked 8×60, the 3-digit code of “blc” , the serial number, “49688”. Though not marked as such, the optics also appear to be coated. It is missing the strap, but one can easily find a replacement. The flip-up eye cups are a bit loose, but that can be tightened via the retaining screws. Slight marks, scratches, and paint chips throughout… A VERY NICE example, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!! Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. ABOUT ME.
