Ww2 model ship, USS INDIANAPOLIS, 1/350 scale, Tamiya, pls read description belo
USS Indianapolis , 1/350 scale by Tamiya, 21″ long x 4″ wide x 6 tall (without stand). Approx 100 hrs build time, approx 40 hrs paint/weather. Not attached to display stand. I chose to paint her in her combat “DAZZLE” camo (designated 32/7d camouflage)… Germans also used it. “The Indy” had an illustrious battle career during the Pacific campaign and was in just about every sea battle during this time.. During invasion of Okinawa in March 1945, she took an aerial bomb that severely damaged and almost sunk her. She was sent to Mare Island for major repairs and was completely overhauled.. She was repainted in original grey color and was sent on the top secret mission to deliver the first A bomb to Tinian Island. She went on to Guam and then was ordered to the invasion of Okinawa. Probably the saddest story of the war and certainly the worst disaster in US naval history. If you do NOT know the story leading up to this tragedy and then the aftermath I would hope you would GOOGLE the story. Sturdy foamboard, styrofoam and bubble wrap are packed around it in the box.
