Unpublished 1st Generation AKA Original Real-Photo. Various snapshot sizes with some minor variation. This is a photo album from the 1961 African Goodwill Tour of the USS Forrest Sherman DD-931. The album is very detailed and ID’d. There are 191 photos in the album. Included are photos of Ambassadors to foreign countries, presidents many other officers and much much more. There are Navy band photos, marine celebrations and both on land and at sea photographs. Each photo appears well documented with names, description of scene and location along with date. A real historical jewel. I have provided 11 images of the first 11 pages in the photo album which well represents the contents. The 3 ring binder is partially torn down the spine where the front cover connects to the spine. I do not have a pic of it. Do not expect perfect photos. Often old photos have small creases and tears around the edges. We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as “gifts” – US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior. Wire Photos or News Agency Photos were extensively used in print media during the first half of the 1900’s. Issued by news agencies (such as Acme, NEA, International News, Associated Press, UPI, Fotogram, Keystone,) only to the press, these Gorgeous pieces capture a historical moment, frozen in time, as they were issued on the day the event happened. Unfortunately they were issued in extremely limited quantities solely for print media industry usage (it is estimated that there were approximately 25 – 50 of EACH particular photograph made). Over the years, many were destroyed or lost, and in some cases, there are only 1 or 2 specimens known to exist today of a particular photograph making these Original! Some scratchiness in the image is normal. This photo is not a original photo using the traditional definition since it was not developed but was normally printed on film stock. We consider these 1st Generation Original Photos. 1st Generation AKA Original. This is a photo manufactured near the time when the image was taken. News Agency and Official photos fall into this category automatically. Photo that is at least 30 years old. Implies a recently manufactured photo from the late 1980s to today. This has been chemically developed on film stock and is not a simulated photo like what you would find in a newspaper. Can be of any type of manufacture but is not a real-photo. Size given is almost always the paper size of item and not image size. Image size is normally smaller. Metric conversion is 1 inch = 2.54 centimeters for our international customers. We do not reproduce these. We obtain almost all our “MR” reproductions from the United States government. The balance due to their age have passed into the public domain.
