Rare Napoleonic Wars Era HMS Foudroyant British Navy Bronze Plaque Souvenir
For sale is a quite rare piece of history from the French revolution and Napoleonic wars era. It is a beautiful detailed bronze plaque made from the HMS Foudroyant which served in the British Navy from 1798 through 1815. The Foudroyant served as Admiral Nelsons flagship from June 6, 1799 to June 1801. It was probably a piece of paneling from the wardroom, officers mess, or even captains quarters. It measures 15 inches high by approximately 12 inches across. It does have a split through it which could be repaired but Ill leave that up to you. The bronze plaque measures approximately 9 1/2 inches hIgh by approximately 6 1/2 inches across. The plaque reads in small shields on either side of the coat of arms launched Plymouth 1795 wrecked Blackpool 1897. It says made from the old Foudroyant And was likely Franz recovered from the machine room or piping. Overall a very historically interesting piece from the time of Nelson at Trafalgar and throughout the revolution and Napoleonic wars.
