Scratch Built 1/98 Model USS Constitution “Old Ironsides”. Exposed Gun, Berthing and Orlop Desks including stern gallery. Exposed decks lit with LED lighting for excellent display of details. Deluxe Case with Stand including light switch and programmable timer included. Model built primarily from Mantua Model plans and layout details from the USS Constitution Museum Website. Deck layouts follow closely the 1927 remodel plans. The 1927 plans were used to restore Constitution as she sits in Boston Harbor today. Main gallery details from 1927 plans and visible with lighting. Hammocks and even a prepared cartridge are visible under lighting. Anchor cable actually weaves to front of berthing deck as per plans. Bow and stern decorations done by hand with careful reproduction. Keel and frames made from 3/8 inch thick cherry wood. Double plank construction with basswood inner planks and mahogany outer planking. Planks stained and not painted to show the gorgeous color of the wood. Cooper hull with red details as she sits today. All wooden parts including gun carriages, hull decor, masts and spars, fighting tops, mast caps, furniture (except chairs) and gunports are hand made from scratch. Keel and frame from scratch.
