Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. 1926 Swords Into Plowshares ORIGINAL
Beating Swords Into Plowshares. Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. 10 ½ x 13 ¾ hardcover, 31 pages. Please note this is an ORIGINAL, not a reproduction. The outer layers of the boards along the spine are coming off, but the internal binding is tight. All pages are clean and free of mark. There is no foxing. Also please note that this is much larger than the scan area of my scanner, so it is not possible to show an entire page. In the scan of the cover, I placed a 12 inch ruler so you can see the size. This is a magnificent and rare artifact of one of the great industrial concerns of the United States, which, just before World War One, was the largest and most active shipyard in the United States. Page 17: The Newport News Mechanical Rack Rake is a patented specialty for hydro-electric plants. There are pictures of the one of the eight drafting rooms, a bay in the foundry shop, a bay in the large machine shop, the forge shop, and the plate shop.
