WW2 German Kriegsmarine 7×50 BMK BINOCULARS WILHELMSHAVEN RARE
The German Army and Navy used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6×30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens), 7×50, 8×30, 10×50 and others, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service. Though this type was the standard, specialized personnel required stinger optics, and were issues to personnel on a limited basis. The Naval Shipyard Wilhelmshaven (KMW – Kriegsmarine Werft Wilhelmshaben) was the most important naval shipyard during WW2. It was originally the Imperiual Shipyard Wilhelmshaven thoughout WW1, and then was changed to the Reichsmarinewerft in 1935. In late 1939, it went into possession of the German Kriegsmarine, and was primarily used for the repair, conversion, and maintenance of warships and submarines. New buildings were usually only accepted as “filling orders” in order to maintain the high level of personnel, knowledge, and machinery. Made of aluminum, brass, and steel by Syb & Stys Fab Prazier Messinstrumente, Czechoslovakia, these 7 x 50 power binoculars are in EXCELLENT used condition! The lens bodies retain about 95% of the original black finish, and the aluminum end piece fittings are 100% intact! The focus adjustments still function perfectly on both eye pieces and the optics are still VERY clear, with NO fogginess or spotting! Used by FlaK crews at the Wilhelmshaven Shipyard, the left side is body marked. Note that the “N” indicates North Sea Fleet. The left side is marked, ” Dienstglas 7×50, bmk “. And the serial number, 153060. The RARE feature is that both eye pieces feature the sought-after “flip-up” eye sockets! Due to the overall condition of the binoculars, I believe these were prefessionally cleaned and re-painted… Overall a VERY NICE example, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!!
