Handmade Resin and Metal Model. Planned US Naval War Ships. WW2 Era Battleship in 1/1200 scale. This is a model of the planned United State Battleship of the MONTANA Class. Designed as a successor to the IOWA class battleships, five ships of this class were approved, but never laid down. Initially approved in 1939, subsequent events showed that the Aircraft Carrier and fast Battleship escorts were more desired, so these were delayed and eventually cancelled. The MONTANA class was to be 921 feet long and 121 feet wide with 63,221 tons displacement, and was capable of speeds up to 28 knots. They were to carry twelve 16 guns in her main turrets, with twenty 5guns as secondary armament, with three to four aircraft. The MONTANAs would be manned by 2,355 crewmen. John Youngerman has subsequently finished building this model and painted it. They are a composite of resin hull, with cast metal findings, plus some parts were fabricated by Mr. Youngerman to complete them. This is a consignment sale by the maker. The model is new and in excellent condition. Some pertinent information is on the bottom, as well as Johns makers signature.
