The German Army and Navy used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6×30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens), 7×50, 8×30, 10×50 and others, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service. Though this type was the standard, specialized personnel required stinger optics, and were issues to personnel on a limited basis. This specific binocular was used by U-Boat crews, ships, and coastal artillery. Made by Leitz of a large tooled alloy and aluminum construction, these 7 x 50 power binoculars are in EXCELLENT used condition! The lens bodies retain about 80% of their original, rough textured, black finish (some is missing/peeling), and one of the bakelite eye cups is missing, but is otherwise complete! The focus adjustment still functions perfectly on both eye pieces and the optics are still VERY clear (some spotting)! These appear to be an arsenal re-work, having the standard impressed KM markings on the right side lens body, as opposed to the left. Right side is marked 7 x 50, the 3-digit code of ” beh ” (indicating being manufactured by Leitz), the serial number, “346545”, a “T” (indicating the lenses are coated), and a “KF” lubricant code (indicating the optic is lubricated with cold resistant grease “Invarol”, which is said to be serviceable to -20 degrees C). Note that I do not see any coating on the lenses. The strap is the original one to these binos and still very strong. The case is the RARER taller type, that has a section dedicated to lens filters in the upper half. It is well-marked with the KM Adler, and a date of 1943. Strap is also original to the case. A PERFECT addition to any collection or display!! TERMS OF SALE. Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. ABOUT ME.
