MAKER’S HERITAGE. Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington is one of the oldest and most strategically vital naval installations in the United States, established in 1891 and serving continuously as the Pacific Fleet’s primary facility for the maintenance, overhaul, and nuclear refueling of submarines and aircraft carriers. The shipyard’s workforce – a combination of civilian government employees and active duty naval personnel – has maintained America’s Pacific naval power through every major conflict of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Commemorative watches of this type were typically presented at retirement ceremonies recognizing career service to the shipyard – personal artifacts of a working life spent in one of America’s most demanding and consequential defense environments. The atomic symbol on the dial reflects the shipyard’s nuclear mission, a specialization that sets PSNS apart from conventional naval facilities and represents the highest technical demands in American naval service. Today these presentation pieces are collected by naval history enthusiasts, PSNS veterans and their families, Pacific Northwest military collectors, and anyone who appreciates the intersection of American horology and naval heritage. ? Great vintage plaque that is over 50 years old. Wood plaque measures approx 10″x8″. Brass emblem is 5 round. There are some scratches and scrapes to the wood which I believe could be repaired or replaced. The dark overlay on the former owners retirement plate is starting to flake off. The brass emblem is in good shape with some minor scratches. I have attempted to show the overall condition olin photos. Please ask any questions you have.

Model of a nuclear attack submarine, Los Angeles, class 688. I believe this is a model done by Electric Boat as a presentation piece, It came out of Portsmoth RI, where Electric Boat Has A large presence. Some of the decals show damage as shown in the pictures. It has been brought to my attention that it is missing the two small sailplanes, It came with a brass name plate that I will include.
