Bell is made of cast bronze or brass. 9 1/4″ tall and 9 7/8″ wide at the bottom. The weight is just shy of 18 pounds so it is thick and heavy. It is missing the clapper that rang the bell. There are no breaks in the bell and the sound is good when I suspended it and tapped it with a hammer on the inside. Has not been polished and has the original patina along with a few light dings on the surface. Most that you see are marked USN which makes this US marked one a little rarer. Was probably made in the WWII era as it is maker marked on the top M. LOEFFLER, PENDELL, PA which was founded in 1939. There wasn’t enough room on the top to obtain the complete makers mark but there is enough of it shown to figure it out. Great bell seldom offered.
