PORT ENGINE ORDER INDICATOR. Date unknown – seems like WWII or shortly thereafter. Case body approx 6-1/2 on sides. The lower left of the tag bears a stamp of the American eagle below three stars. With a shied on center of body. Condition notes: Indicator is covered in multiple layers of thick paint, screws from metal tag have been removed and are gone, but is still currently adhered to the case. There is what looks like a growth on the inside of the glass, but there is none on the face, only the glass. At some point a restoration was attempted, but doesn’t seem to have gone past screw removal and light sanding. Thank you for looking. Up for sale is an awsome rummage sale find. This is the original Double Engine Order Telegraph from the USS Hall USN Destroyer DD-583. It is ripe for preservation or restoration. There is one just like it on the USS Midway as I found on the interweb. The face is made of brass and mine is missing a lower piece that indictates the engines revolutions and or where alarm bells would be mounted.
