USS New Jersey (SSN-796), 20-inch Mahogany Model. Dive with the USS New Jersey (SSN-796) Blk IV Submarine Model again in this handcrafted 20-inch submarine. Each piece is carved from wood and handpainted to provide a piece you’ll love. Length – 20 inches. New Jersey (SSN-796), a Block IV Virginia-class submarine, will be the third United States Navy vessel named for the state of New Jersey. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced the name on 25 May 2015, at a ceremony in Jersey City, New Jersey. New Jersey’s construction reached pressure hull completion in February 2021. The construction milestone signifies that all of the submarine’s hull sections have been joined to form a single, watertight unit. She was christened on 13 November 2021 and launched on 14 April 2022. [1] New Jersey is the first US Navy attack submarine designed for a mixed-gender crew. [4] The first female submariners ever in the US Navy were on ballistic missile submarines, such as USS Wyoming (SSBN-742), back in 2011. New Jersey will be delivered to the Navy late in 2023, and is due to be commissioned in 14 September 2024. New Jersey’s crest features the submarine in the foreground with the Iowa-class battleship New Jersey in the background, surmounted by the motto, “Virtute Ignis Pro Libertas”. This is a Latin translation of “Firepower for Freedom”, which was also the battleship’s motto. On the side is the outline of the State of New Jersey with a portion of the famous painting Washington Crossing the Delaware set inside the borders. The references to Washington’s victory at Trenton and to the battleship New Jersey are meant to show that the submarine is the heir to a long tradition. The devil horns, tail, and wings on the outside of the crest are a reference to the Jersey Devil, the legendary creature said to inhabit the Pine Barrens.

Signed 20 x 24 serigraph print of THE BATTLESHIP NEW JERSEY by international impressionist artist, KAMIL KUBIK. This print is one in a series of NEW JERSEY subjects I commissioned Kamil to create for our state during the 1990’s and it was the final selection out of so many wonderful subjects. I have NEW JERSEY STATE HOUSE, THE STATUE OF LIBERTY, CAPE MAY, NJ, THE BARNEGAT LIGHTHOUSE, THE NEW JERSEY SENATE, a FLORAL CENTERPIECE, (Kamil was well known for his beautiful florals), WORLD CUP SOCCER AT THE NJ MEADOWLANDS, (1994), and more that Kamil painted for us over a period of about 10 years. He has lived and traveled all over the world while mastering his incredible talent as an impressionist artist with an eye for architecture and detail. When he and his wife eventually settled in New York City, he was discovered by Barbara Bush who invited Kamil to Washington DC to paint her husband’s inauguration along with several White House Holiday cards. Kamil’s career skyrocketed after that. He did work for Donald Trump, The Ritz Carlton Hotel chain, The New York Yankees and multiple Wall Street groups, companies and organizations. He passed away during the height of his career after suffering a sudden stroke while working in his studio. The world lost an incredible talent and I lost a dear and close friend. I miss him still but have so much of his art that I feel him around me all the time. The original of this subject was given to the Battleship Commission and each member of that commission received a print. Kamil also gave me a box of posters of this subject that I carry in my Jeep. Whenever I see someone who is a veteran or active member of the military, I offer them one as a thank you gift from me and Kamil for their service. This print is exciting, dramatic, and was done on a high quality paper. The actual image size is 18″ x 22″ with a white 3 border than can be as thin or as wide as you choose to frame.
