This is the rear flag staff from the Sampson. It will obviously need to be restored. The name plate has gathered some moss but it’s in really good condition other wise. The name plate is about 12 – 14 foot long. The two would make a nice display when restored. This unit removed from Sampson is untested for function. The bell is brass and the unit has an indicator function box attached. And it’s not brasso that does it and it’s not a machine polish. I removed this item from the Sampson. It contains all of the gauges, connectors and hoses for the ASROC launcher. A very unique piece of navy history for someone who worked on the ASROC launcher or someone who just likes the neat collection of gauges. One of the units appears to have been a substituent for an original and matching gauge with the rest of them.
