This is a set of 42 different original 1943 WW2 Pacific Navy Attack Snapshot Photos including some of the USS Selfridge and engagements on the Pacific campaign that included the Battle of Vella Lavella. There are also two photo postcards included. The snapshots are of two differenht sizes measuring 4 3/8″X3.35″ and 5″X2.75″. There are 38 photos stamped on the reverse “Not for Publication, Not for Transmission through the Post” that I believe are original snapshots that did not pass a sensor test. The photos of the USS Selfridge are dated Oct. This is the day of and the day after the Battle of Vella Lavella in which the USS Selfridge sustained the damage. There are also photos of US and Allied ships underway. The snapshots have varying degrees of minor curling, small bends, creases and wrinkles, some fading and some phots have some blurred images or have some development imperfections as well.
