Used on U-boats and other surface vessels. Hese were captured at the end of the war. The German Army and Navy used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6×30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens), 7×50, 8×30, 10×50 and others, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service. Though this type was the standard, specialized personnel required stinger optics, and were issues to personnel on a limited basis. This specific binocular was used by U-Boat crews, ships, and coastal artillery. Made of aluminum, brass, and steel by Leitz, these 7 x 50 power binoculars are in GREAT used condition! The lens bodies retain about 98% of their original, rough textured, black finish, and the aluminum end piece fittings are 100% intact! The focus adjustment still functions perfectly on both eye pieces and the optics are still sharp with NO spotting… But are a bit hazy. There is one crack in the eye piece lens (see image), but it does not really retract too much when looking through. The left side is body marked 7 x 50, the 3-digit code of “beh” (indicating being manufactured by Leitz). The rubber armour on the eyepieces and lenses is FULLY intact but has some some minor cracks These were stored with the rubber caps open, and as such, will not close tightly on the eye pieces. Still functional, but they will remain in the “open” position. Also comes complete with an original strap, but it appears to be field-made. A VERY NICE example, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!!
