1930s US Navel History Sub-Ron Five Equatorial Cruse, Aircraft Carrier USS Dewey. Welcome to Auntie Q’s! Auntie Q’s specializes in estates and items that are fresh to the market! 1930’s US Navel History: Documentation Sub-Ron Five Equatorial Cruse! This is directly out of my extensive personal collection. It came out of a local estate many years ago! Its main content is an extensive, mostly photographic documentation of the 1938 Sub-Ron Five Equatorial Cruse, undertaken by U. Submarine Squadron 5, including its flagship the USS Canopus (AS-9). All of the documentation was the personal accumulation of J. D’Allesantro who was a crew member of one of the participating ships, the submarine USS S-38 (SS-143). Along with the souvenir book of the cruse and the extensive collection of photographs (both professional and personal) the collection includes a grouping of personal memorabilia and other photographs from his service stationed in the Asiatic Fleet. Extremely interesting is a grouping of personal photographs showing an early aircraft carrier with its airplanes, several of which are of aircraft in water ditched landings! The souvenir book is approximately 8″ x 10 1/2″ with 80 pages. There are 16 loose professional publicity photographs with the souvenir book. The rest (photographs and personal memorabilia) are in a wonderful approximate 12″ x 8 1/4″ album with heavy black leather covers. There are over 117 photographs, including submarines in the USS Dewey floating dry dock, and several of local young ladies “ala natural”! Definitely a young seaman’s ideal posting! All is in good to very good condition. Please super size the embedded listing images to view the overall condition in detail. A Spectacular Historic United States Navel Documentation!
