Used on U-boats and other surface vessels. Hese were captured at the end of the war. The German Army and Navy used a wide variety of optical equipment, including a 6×30 (6 power magnification with 30mm objective lens), 7×50, 8×30, 10×50 and others, being the standard issued optics used by all branches of service. Though this type was the standard, specialized personnel required stinger optics, and were issues to personnel on a limited basis. This specific binocular was used by U-Boat crews, ships, and coastal artillery. Made of aluminum, brass, and steel by Leitz, these 7 x 50 power binoculars are in EXCELLENT used condition! The lens bodies retain about 98% of their original, rough textured, black finish, and the aluminum end piece fittings are 100% intact! The focus adjustment still functions perfectly on both eye pieces and the optics are still VERY sharp with no spotting! The view is a bit hazy, however (see last photo), so I suspect they need a bit of a cleaning. The left side is body marked 7 x 50, the 3-digit code of “beh” (indicating being manufactured by Leitz), the serial number, “447207”. The rubber armour on the eyepieces and lenses is FULLY intact with no major cracks or damage, however the top caps have been purpsefully removed. I suspect that was done in the field, as opposed to post-war. Comes complete with the original strap. The leather case is original to this set, and retains 95% of it’s original coloring. It also retains a full Adler with a “M” stamped below, indicating it is for Kriegsmarine (Navy) use. Features a 1943 manufacture date, as well as the “beh” makers code. It is missing the strap, as well as the front spring strap closure. Slight marks and dents throughout. A VERY NICE example, it would make a PERFECT addition to any collection or display!! Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. ABOUT ME.
